TOUCHING

Touching is one of the most effective non-verbal communications. Through touching you communicate love, anger, tender, trust, tenderness, warmth and a variety of the emotions. People of western culture communicate a lot by touching while people of oriental culture are not willing to touch and be touched. Women of oriental culture give out non-verbal body signals that they do not to be touched. You can learn about own personality and self-concepts by exploring your reactions to touching and being touched. The skin is the body’s largest organ and through the skin you take in a variety of stimuli.

MATISYAHU - CHOP EM DOWN

I was listening to the song when suddenly I caught my attention. The song was from the book of Exodus, where Moses take Israelites from Egypt’s slavery.

ARTIST: Matisyahu

Title: Chop Em Down

Album: Shake off the Dust...Arise

from the forest itself comes the handle for the axe
split this wilderness listen up this aint where its at
clear a path so that you can find your way back
chop em down chop em down
chop em down chop em down

time flies by like clouds passing in the sky
lifetimes here then gone with the blink of an eye
march through the desert one step at a time
march through the desert one step at a time

from the forest itself comes the handle for the axe
drop the staff Moshe Rabbeinu split the ocean in half
march through the desert they say where its at
chop em down chop em down
chop-chop em down chop- chop em down

patterns engraved not so easily erased
still wandering trying to find your place
playing the game i see pain on your face
now a day's the yiddin like children sold as slaves
strange ways running through the maze
strange ways always lost in the desert trying to find to find your place
lost lost in the desert trying to find your place

from the forest itself comes the handle for the axe
split this wilderness listen up this aint where its at
clear a path so that you can find your way back
chop em down chop em down
chop em down chop em down

Yoseph descended sold as a slave

`thrown into a dungeon cause he wouldn't be swayed

interpreted Pharaoh's dreams and Egypt was saved
stock piled food for seven years of rain
then sold to all the nations when the drought came

Yoseph rose to power and the yiddin stayed
they started to build and success was made
Pharos getting worried let's make them pay bound in chains
first born was sent down to their graves
Moshe was saved and a prince he was raised
Hashem spoke to him heres a message to relay
Take my nation from Mitzrayim I see the suffering
hard hearts ego breaks take sparks and make way
trail blaze through the wasteland breaking the chains

last generation just the ruminants
march through the desert leaving footprints
peel off the lid this is just plastic gotta get into it, get get into it
heavy hitter stepping solid never quitter jump into the ocean before it split gotta jump into it
rip rip through Egypt get into it keep the fire lit just get into it
600,000 witnessed it, no you didn't forget
no you didn't forget
rip rip through Egypt get into it
got a jump into it
jump jump into it

in the spiritual desert things are not what they seem
snakes camouflaged just fit to the scene

jump into it... camouflaged...

FOOTHBATH

The hot footbath treatment is given for 15 minutes only. The water temperature must not exceed 40o C. The temperature should be lower in case of extremely nervous persons, or if the patient has varicose veins. The feet should be continuously rubbed while in the pail or tub. End the treat with a brief cold immersion to bring the temperature of the feet back to normal. The hot foot bath is useful in case of heart palpitation, nervousness, anemia, high blood pressure, cold, varicose veins, cerebral congestions, cold feet, sinusitis, chronic leg ulcers, catarrh, toothache and nasal congestions.

PEIRCING QUESTIONS

After a birthday celebration dinner with my classmates at a sub-famous eatery, my attention was trapped by a street kid. I was standing in the corner of the street when a kid came close to me. She was asking for a coin and starving smile. So with any question I gave her a coin. Then, she thanks me and walks away. Looking her walk away, some questions pierced my mind. Is she hungry? Why she was in the street asking for some alms? Did her parents raise her well? And many others questions that I cannot recall. Do you have any idea why in this time; number of street kid is growing?  Who should be blame?

Defense of the Ancients

DOTA or Defense of the Ancients is a custom scenario for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for StarCraft. The scenario’s main goal is to destroy opponents’ heavy guarded structures. Secret tactics and strategies are utilized to the unit known as heroes and AI-controlled army known as “creeps”. The natures of the game are to level up the heroes, to earn gold and buy equipments and to destroy opponent’s base. Many of my neighborhood friends are hooked to this game. Try this and be the next DOTA master.

Summer Time Once Again..

At last school year has come to its near end, same with assignments, projects, quizzes, exams and night-long studies. Summer time once again! It is the time to relax and chill, time to be with our families and friends. Most well-known spots for this season are beaches, pools, resorts, malls, party clubs and other recreational areas. I am planning to visit a place far from the neighborhood I lived.  A place where I can chill, relax and do my morning ritual, “the morning glory and the coconut wine”. So plan your summer trip, enjoy and never miss another episode of your life.

The Good and The Bad

A tourist visiting Davao City for the first time may well be turned on by some of the city sites. The city has several world class resorts, hotels, beaches and dive sites. It also has some areas of the world's most demoralizing poverty. I always feel at home and living in the city, but in the near future I want live in sub-rural area. Davao City is a mix of the old and new, rich and poor, good and bad and pretty and ugly. There is also the mix of clean and really dirty or filthy. The rule for anyone going to Davao for the first time is to not make a snap judgment.

a nipa shelter

Nipa houses are popular in Southeast Asian countries not only because countries in Southern are tropical, and the fact that coconut trees and other woods are abundant but also because of the way of living in the country. Natives from the country Philippines earn a living through farming, so most of them live in a house made of Nipa. A simple yet relaxing place to hang-out and live compared to an ordinary house. Although, such houses are not capable of defending you from strong typhoons but surely it will give you enough ventilation when it’s hot.

People may think that when one lives in a Nipa, you do not have enough money to spend for your mansion-like homes or perhaps just a home built with bricks and cement. They think such because obviously, you do not have to spend much for the materials needed instead you just make use of the nipa leaves. Well, I personally believe that whether you live in such houses, mansion like or just a nipa all that just matters is how you design your houses, how you live with it, and above all, how you make your houses a HOME.

HOW TO LIVE LONGER

One twenty-five year old Fulla Nayak, a resident of Kanarpur village in the coastal district of Kendrapada, Orissa died of old age. She said the reason of her living for so long is smoking Ganja and drinking wine made out of Palm Leaves. She also was a heavy tea drinker. According to her 72-year-old grandson, Fulla was 125. But as per a voter photo identity card issued by the government in 1995 she was 120 years. The grand old woman lived in a small mud-walled thatched house in Kanarpur, about 25 km from the district headquarters. She is survived by two of her four daughters and around two dozen relatives. Her eldest daughter, Jamuna, 92, lives in the same village. Her husband died at the age of 50. Fulla was in the news when her grandson Narayan Nayak claimed last week that she could be the oldest woman living in the world. He had said that he would write to the Guinness book authorities to record the claim. She had never suffered any debilitating ailment throughout her life. Except for her weak eyesight, Fulla maintained good health and used to walk without support.

MENTAL SLAVERY

Its been a mean day, time push me to insanity. Hitting the books and notes all night long and series of time consuming exams. In short mental slavery! The late Bob Marley said “ emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds”. Is it a necessity to go to school and earn a degree, masters or doctoral? Maybe. In my own point of view, these so called degree are your professional license to get a job. Why get a job, to earn money? Exactly! There numerous ways to gain money without letting our minds be a slave.

Gods laws regarding animals of land

  • Mood:

Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them, "Speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'These are the animals which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth: Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hooves and chewing the cud; that you may eat. Nevertheless these you shall not eat among those that chew the cud or those that have cloven hooves: the camel, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to you; the rock hyrax, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to you; the hare, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to you; and the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch. They are unclean to you.'"

a. Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hooves and chewing the cud; that you may eat: The rule was simple. If an animal had a divided hoof (not a single hoof as a horse has), and chewed its cud, it could be eaten.

b. These you shall not eat among those that chew the cud or those that have cloven hooves: For example, the camel, the rock hyrax, and the hare all chew the cud, but do not have divided hooves - instead, they have paws - they are considered unkosher.

c. And the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you: Additionally, the swine has a divided hoof, but it does not chew the cud - so it is considered unkosher.

i. “It is now known that the pig is the intermediate host for several parasitic organisms, some of which can result in tapeworm infestation. One of these worms, the Taenia solium, grows to about 2.5 m in length, and is found in poorly cooked pork.” (Harrison)

d. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch: If an animal was considered unclean, one obviously could not eat it. Yet additionally, one could not touch an unclean animal, whether living or dead.

i. God was not making up new rules for Israel. Noah knew about clean and unclean animals (Genesis 7:2, 8:20). God simply codified what was already in the traditions of Israel.

I T A L F O O D

  • Mood:

Ital food is derived from the word "vital food" (Self-determination of the black race resulted in the Rastafarians usage of the word 'I" to replace the first letter of many words). Ital food means it is natural, pure and clean food. For a Rastafarian it means no salt, no chemicals, no flesh, no blood, no whites (called whiteblood), no alcohol, no cigarettes and no drugs (herbs are not considered drugs).

Rastafarians avoid salt, oil and meat. Their dietary laws are similar to the laws followed by Jews in Leviticus 11. Fish must be less than a foot long. No shell fish or fish without scales. Pork is especially condemned amongst Rastafarians. It is so important to not put the wrong thing in your body that some Rastafarians never cook in aluminum pots as it is said to leave traces of metal in the food that can get in your body. Cooking in a clay pot is popular among Rastafarians.

Rastafarians see their food as a way to be one with nature and also as medicine for the body, as it builds your "strucha" (Patois or the word structure). There are also strict hygienic laws that Rastafarians follow.

Below is a example of an Ital Food Recipe provided by Jamaicans.com forum member Tuff Gong :

ITAL SWEET POTATO PUDDING

Ingredients:

  • 1lb 8ozs to 1lb 14ozs sweet potato (I used 1lb 14ozs in this Pudding)

  • 3 cups coconut milk

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp ground ginger

  • ½ tsp grated nutmeg

  • 1 ½tsp vanilla essence

  • 1 to 1 ¼4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 cups soaked raisins (I have mine soaked in Sherry for over 5 years now. I top it off with more Raisins, Prunes and Sherry every time it gets too low in the bottle.)

  • ½ - 1 cup flour (More or less flour will make it firmer or less so I used half a cup)

  • 5ozs Beet Root or Carrots (optional)

Method

  1. Puree sweet potato and coconut milk in blender

  2. Pour mixture into a bowl

  3. Dice beet root

  4. Add all the ingreidents to the bowl. Mix and pour into a well greased 8" or 10" round tin
(vegetable shortening to grease the tin)

  5. Bake at 350F for 1 ½ hours then 300F for 25 mins

  6. Remove from the oven immediately.

  7. Best eaten the next day or at least 5 hours after cooking.

  8. The pudding sets as it cools.
